Dinesh was born in Singapore and is a third-generation Singaporean of Indian descent, with family roots in Varkala, Kerala. He spent his childhood in public housing, first in a one-room flat in Pearl’s Hill police quarters and later in a three-room flat along Telok Blangah Rise.
